Librarians play a vital role in promoting knowledge, reading habits: PU VC
LAHORE: (Friday, October 17, 2025): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has said that librarians play an important role in promoting knowledge and fostering reading habits. He expressed these views while addressing the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration and Annual Luncheon of the Punjab University Librarians Organization (PULO) here on Friday. On this occasion, PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani, Deputy Chief Librarian Saif-ur-Rehman Attique, Academic Staff Association President Dr Amjad Magsi, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, Director General Dr Rehan Sadiq, faculty members, and librarians from various departments participated. Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali said that librarians are closely associated with books, and it is very pleasing to see them pursuing higher education. He directed that the promotion of librarians should be given top priority. He said that he has been affiliated with the university for forty years. PU VC appreciated the outstanding services of Dr Haroon Usmani and Saif-ur-Rehman Ateeq for PU. On this occasion, the VC also administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of the Librarians Association.
