PU Radio FM 104.6 Marks World Radio Day with Special Ceremony

LAHORE: (Sunday, February 15, 2026): Punjab University School of Communication Studies FM Radio 104.6 organized a special cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate World Radio Day here on Friday. The event was attended by Director School of Communication Studies Prof Dr Abida Ashraf, Program Manager Radio FM 104.6 Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry, faculty members and a large number of students. Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Abida Ashraf highlighted the enduring significance of radio as an effective and accessible medium of communication. She observed that many young people tend to underestimate radio, considering it less attractive compared to other modern media platforms. However, she emphasized that radio remains a powerful and impactful medium that can reach remote areas at minimal cost where newspapers and other forms of media may not have access. She stressed the need to promote a culture of dialogue through radio in order to foster peace, harmony and mutual understanding in society. She also appreciated the efforts of the organizers for arranging a meaningful and engaging event to mark World Radio Day. Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry said that communication has become extremely powerful in the contemporary era and plays a crucial role in fifth-generation warfare. He noted with pride that hundreds of students trained at PU Radio FM 104.6 are serving the media industry with distinction, contributing positively not only within Pakistan but also at the international level. The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening the role of radio in education, awareness and national development.
