The Character Building Society (CBS) at the Institute of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (IMMG), University of the Punjab, organized “CLEANLINESS WEEK” on 21th to 25th November, 2022. During the week students were involved in various activities related to the importance and creating awareness about cleanliness, such as onsite cleaning of labs and class rooms, an awareness walk in the premises of the institute, appreciation and presenting shields to sanitary workers of the institute, along with the brain storming/discussion session on cleanliness. In awareness walk, all the students were holding posters, placards and were enchanting slogans on the importance of personal hygiene and to create awareness on adopting the practices and strategies to minimize littering in the environment. The faculty of IMMG also participated alongwith students in the walk. In the brain storming session the director IMMG prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rehman, Dr. Imran Sajid, Dr. Mehboob Ahmad, and Dr. Nauman Javed were among the panelists, they had discussion with the students, answered the student’s questions and guided the students on the importance of the cleanliness, Dr. Imran Sajid (Faculty Advisor-CBS IMMG), delivered the opening presentation on the importance of cleanliness and moderated the session. Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri appreciated the CBS efforts to organize the activity, she also appreciated the students’ participation and highlighted the importance of such activities in students training, certificates were also presented to the winning classes for cleanliness day poster competition and culture day stalls competition. A very positive attitude among students was observed after this week.
