PU organizes road safety workshop


LAHORE: (Thursday, September 15, 2022): Punjab University Department of Gender Studies in collaboration with the National Highways and Motorways Police organized a road safety workshop here on Thursday. On this occasion, Chairperson Department of Gender Studies Prof Dr Raa’na Malik, Sector Commander Motorway Police Mr Shehbaz Alam, faculty members, police officers and a large number of students were present. In her address, Dr Raa’na said that every year around 1.4 million people lose their lives in road accidents all over the world and most of them are young people. She said that holding such workshops was the need of the hour to make the youth and women aware of traffic rules. NH∓ Sector Commander Shehbaz Alam said that the main cause of road accidents is lack of awareness, negligence and carelessness. He said that such events should be held in future to create awareness about traffic rules. Later, a question and answer competition was held in which prizes were distributed among the students who gave the correct answers. The participants lauded the efforts of Department of Gender Studies’ Assistant Prof Dr Qaiser Khalid Mehmood for organizing informative activity.
