Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Organized One day Awareness Workshop of Diabetes on 14th November 2019


Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, plays a key role in progress of biological and life sciences in the university but all over the country by providing trained personnel in the different fields of life. World Diabetes Day is a day which is held annually on November 14th every year and with theme "Diabetes: Protect Your Family" event approved by the International Diabetes Federation (ID), UK. Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is organizing this event from several years with the aim “to educate the peoples about the disease and its prevention and promote research culture in the University among the students and researchers". Prof. Dr. Sikandar Sultan (Chairman), Dr. Samreen Riaz (Asst. Prof and Focal person), Ms. Snobia Munir (Research scholar and Secretary), Ms. Amina Matti (Research Scholar) were the organizers from the MMG in this workshop. Dr. Ahmed Naveed Bhatti, Consultant Diabetologist, (Chairman) Association of Family Physicians Pakistan and Mr. Irfan Ahmad Khan (Senior Area Manager Lilly Ltd.Pakistan) and Mrs. Rehana Kausar (Health Insurance Department form State Life Insurance Corporation, Govt. of Pakistan) were given very informative lectures and training to the participants. The event went very successful and more than 100 different participants from various departments attended and presented posters. In poster session, Ms. Farah Qudsia won the1st prize, Ms. Amina Matti 2nd and Mr. Sohaib Imtiaz won 3rdprize. PAFP and Lilly Ltd Pakistan sponsored this event. It was a very fascinating and thought-provoking event.
