PU pays tribute to former Additional Controller


LAHORE: (Thursday, August 13, 2020): Punjab University Officers Welfare Association on Thursday organized a condolence reference to pay tribute to former Additional Controller of Examinations/Additional Registrar Ahmed Ali Chatha, who was martyred a few days ago. PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, President Punjab University Officers Welfare Association Jalil Tariq, General Secretary Rana Muzaffar Ali, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Controller of Examinations Muhammad Rauf Nawaz, Vice President Alumni Association Raja Munawar, President Punjab University Housing Scheme Town-I Dr Asmatullah, Dr Muhammad Kamran Abid, Choudhary Muhammad Iftikhar, Dr Iftikhar Baloch and a large number on duty and retired officers and teachers were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar said that Mr Ahmed Ali Chatha was a living example of honesty, integrity, hard work and dedication. He said that he was one of the employees of PU due to which PU’s name had brought to the limelight. He condemned the brutal murder of Mr Chatha and called upon the government to arrest the killers of Mr Chattha and give them punishment under the law. Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan said that Mr Chatha was a humble person and he was always available for helping other since his student life. He said that Mr Chatha always kept his door opened for students for resolving their issues. He said that every heart at PU was saddened due to his murder. Muhammad Rauf Nawaz said that Mr Chatha gave training to them due to which they were able to run Department of Examinations in a smooth manner. He said that Mr Chatha introduced various reforms to the Department of Examinations. He said that Mr Chatha was very kind to his juniors. Raja Munawar said that the absence of Mr Chatha would be felt forever. Mr Jalil Tariq said that Mr Chatha was a truthful person and he used to distribute honorarium given to him among poor employees. He said that Mr Chatha used to help poor employees in their personal matters too. Dr Kamran Abid said that Mr Chatha’s life was just like an open book and we must follow his footsteps for the welfare of the university employees. Chaudhry Muhammad Iftikhar said that Mr Chatha used to seek the death of martyrdom from Allah. Later, fateha was offered for the departed soul of Mr Chatha.
